Home to large pods of dolphins, the seas off the Kalpitiya peninsula are some of the best in Sri Lanka for magical moments, delighting in the antics of these amazing mammals in their natural habitat.
Most commonly seen are the acrobatic spinner dolphins. Have your camera ready, or simply enjoy the moment, as they spin and leap out of the water, putting on wonderful displays, often coming along side the boat and ducking and diving through the clear waters.
The best time for dolphin watching is from November to April when the seas are calmer. With trained staff, our boats set off at about 7 in the morning for a wonderful morning at sea. After a memorable trip, arrive back for a late breakfast with stories to tell for years to come!
A rarer but equally majestic sight, are whales as they migrate through the seas nearby normally in November/December, and then again in March. Sperm whales are the most commonly sighted, but you may be lucky and see a blue whale or a minke! Traveling in smaller groups, it is awe inspiring to watch as they dive under water with their huge tails in the air.
