No better place to Be

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

I stayed three weeks at Udekki. Although I did very little but swim, rest and enjoy massage treatments; there’s lots to do for the adventurous: whale and dolphin watching, wind surfing, cycling, forest tours, visiting elephants and much more. Asafari in Wilpattu, birdwatching in Anawilundawa or Kitesurfing in Kalpitiya. I'm 71, diabetic, and partially disabled. I traveled alone and I was very well looked after by the manager, Dean, and all the staff who are good people. From there you can go ad do safari in Wilpattu, birdwatching in Anawilundawa or Kitesurfing in Kalpitiya.

I will go back to this magical place because no matter what is happening in the world, Udekki remains a place of tranquil beauty.

Beautiful place to stay with fabulous food and service

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

We stayed here for 4 nights and I can't praise it highly enough. Our villa was huge with really comfortable beds, lots of living space and a lovely outside veranda.
The pool area is gorgeous with lots of shady cabanas if it gets too hot and it right next to the beach.
Dean the manager is lovely as are all of his staff. they could not have been more helpful. We've travelled a lot and the level of service here is some of the best we've had.
The food is absolutely delicious as well. There isn't a menu as such but they let you know every day what is fresh and available. Lots of activities and excursions. We went to Wilpattu and where so lucky to see 2 leopards and 2 elephants. Waterskiing and snorkeling where so much fun to.
We had a fantastic couple of weeks in Sri Lanka but Udekki was a real highlight. Thank you Dean and all the team.

The villa had amazing views and places to relax away from the main area. The best meal of our stay the night we arrived and fantastic curried eggs for breakfast. A few paces up the beach were other sister resorts that you could enjoy. Rosie the cat was very special. Would def go back again.

Fantastic stay

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

We decided to head to Kalpitiya one night earlier than we initially planned to, so booked Udekki as the hotel where we were supposed to spend the next couple of nights (Udekki's sister hotel) was fully booked. Dean, the manager, met us on arrival and warmly welcomed us the small, intimate hotel. We were invited to join other guests for dinner - and made new friends, and enjoyed their company over the next few nights. The vibe was fantastic, needless to say we asked if we could change our accommodation and not move to the other hotel. The hotel staff were great, and organised it for us so there would be no extra costs to make the last minute changes.

Meals at Udekki were great - there is no menu. Just ask for it, and they will find a way to make sure you have it. The beach in front of the hotel is pristine - a great beach for long walks and evening swims. We even managed to see a few hundred dolphin on a morning boat ride. My friend went scuba diving and that was also great. Unfortunately we had no time to see Wilpattu and Anawilundawa. (next time)

The hotel is lovely and intimate with a large swimming pool. The rooms are basic, but clean, comfortable and air-conditioned.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Udekki and will definitely be back soon.

Beautiful Getaway with Family

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

Udekki is a hidden gem in Kalpitiya. Coupled with high level of service quality, this property offers nothing but the best of local experiences, wild life, beach experience. Dean the head of the team is a superb personality. Being able to show us around, his warm welcome and hospitality made us feel like home. The support staff were very nice and pleasant. The food was amazing and is of high quality together with the the tree house experience which was one of the most memorable experiences. Udekki also offers a range of activities such as kite surfing, wild life experiences in Wilpattu National Park, cycling, etc. Would highly recommend for families, friends and as well any type of wildlife and nature lovers and as well as long beach stays, this place is ideal.

Beautiful place

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

We stayed in Udekki 10 days ago having moved from the nearby Bar Reef Hotel. Udekki is fabulous and was the accommodation highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka (6 other extremely good hotels) Dean was fantastic, always helpful and ready to accommodate requests but never excellent host. The place is incredibly beautiful and our room was floor of a villa but very spacious and with an enormous private patio area where we could watch the huge variety of birds at sunrise and sunset. The food was cooked to order for us and we were given a huge array of tasty sri Lankan dishes served to us in a charming structure on the beach. Dolphin and whale watching was out of this world and we have seen hundreds of dolphins and 6 whales. Resort has organized afternoon Wilpattu safari and lagoon tour for us to. We will definitely come back.

Can't wait to go back!

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

Barefoot luxury at the beach with a casual and friendly atmosphere. The beach in front of Udekki is fantastic - sandy, clean and not many people except the fishermen who take off from up the beach. It has a large, (and refreshing) swimming pool on the edge of the sand. It's lovely to walk straight out of your room and onto the sandy beach. The food was excellent and Dean, the manager, and his team went out of their way to make sure we had the best in meals and service. We left Udekki feeling like we had made new friends! I will definitely go back again soon!

Amazing boutique hotel for a relaxing stay

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

Gorgeous place, ideally located on a secluded beach of Kalpitiya. The 1 bedroom villa is beautiful and so big. It feels like home. It's actually even better than home! The attention to detail is crazy, inside the villa but also outside. Pictures on Booking or Trip Advisor don't even do justice to the place! The swimming pool area is super nice with beautiful huts and plenty of sunbeds to relax. The property is quite big but the villas and rooms as well as the outdoor area are arranged in a way that makes it very private. Staff and the manager Dean are fantastic: very friendly, super responsive and professional. The food is amazing as well and again, served beautifully. Activities like dolphin watching or whale watching, Wilpattu or Kitesurfing can be organized on short notice. We really had a 5 star experience at Udekki. We will definitely come back again and for longer! And will share this superb address!

A Magical Stay

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

Just had 4 days at Udekki and can't fault a thing. Our room was clean and spacious, the pool area was just beautiful and kept spotlessly clean, the food was out of this world but what made it really special was the staff - we honestly felt totally spoiled. If you want total peace and relaxation, this is the place. Having said that you can be as active as you want - we made use of the free bicycles, went on fab dolphin watching trip and I went to yoga every day with the lovely Monica. But just relaxing by the pool, sitting on the quiet beach or eating the super tasty food in the treehouse overlooking the sea is what it's all about. Wilpattu was highlight of our stay. We have seen leopard, bear and elephant in just one visit to the park. Thank you so much to everyone who works so hard there to make Udekki such a special place.

Nothing but the best

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

All travelers going to Kalpitiya Peninsula should stay at that place. Everything was just outstanding: the facilities, the beach, the food and the staff. My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days at this beautiful little resort. First, the place is full of character and very well decorated. The site is located on a clean and undeveloped beach with a couple of small resorts and fishing hamlets. Walking on the beach early in the morning was one of our favourite moments of the day. We also borrowed bicycles from the resort to pedal on small roads through villages and beautiful agricultural landscape. Another good moment of the day was the excellent massages from Lili. But above all, what really contributed significantly to our great experience has been the attention of the staff. A special mention and thanks to Isuru, the chef and Dean, the manager. Organizing all activities for us from dolphin and whale watching to Wilpattu Safari accompanied by naturalist. We had fantastic time and hope to be able to return one day.

Great Stay

Cyclingnomad, Toronto

Udekki is small, quirky and pretty quiet but nonetheless an absolutely fantastic place for a holiday. Under the watchful eye of Dean, the manager, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. There is lots to do if you want to like Wilpattu National Park, Dolphin and whale watching Kitesurfing, but if not there is no better place to chill out. Highly recommended.

Udekki's staff is very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We felt like we joined a big family and we spent at udekki the most relaxing and pleasent days in our whole jouney troughout Sri Lanka. The accomodation is amazing and food is really excellent. Even if the sea is not at sri lanka's best, thousands of dolphins actually live there and it is an incredible (and easy to do) experience go whatching them eating tunas in the early morning.
